A lot depends on how and how much you intend to drive the car. If you're just cruisin' the neighborhood or going out for ice cream on Saturday night the drums should do you fine, so I'd stick with them as originality seems to be something of a concern.

Of course you need to pay some attention to your driving too!

The only reason I'd personally keep either the drums or a single-pot master cylinder, is if it was an accurate-down-to-the-chalk-mark Concours style restoration.

For anything else, especially if you intend to drive it, go with discs.

Dual chamber was mandated by the Feds starting in 1967.

I know, my reply was more general than just to the OP. I've talked to several enthusiasts who wanted to keep this or that car "100% original" - which I agree is a laudable goal- but still wanted to drive it.

For anything driven on public roads, in my opinion brakes are one thing that should bypass "originality". Maybe not so much for things like brass-era stuff or original fat-fenders, but especially when you start getting to the sports car or musclecar era- Corvettes, Chevelles, and even moreso with the bigger cars like Catalinas and Impalas.

The best I could set up the drums on my Toronado couldn't hold a candle to discs. Again, personally, the only way I wouldn't use them would be for a strictly letter-perfect restoration on a car that didn't or couldn't have had discs originally.
