Cutlass and rocket logo

Cutlass and rocket logo
I want to have my headrests embroidered with the word Cutlass and the rocket logo using the 68-69 style. I have been told that the examples I
have found on the net do not have sufficient resolution. Also been told
that taking a photo of the emblem on the car won't work. I've seen other
cars done with this. Can someone point me in the right direction?
Help,
Owen

Without going too deeply, scanning the image just creates a collection of dots (raster) with no readable form. Increasing the size of the image results in pixalization - fuzzy or bumpy edges, loss of clarity. Embroidery generally relies on shapes defined by paths (vector), a lot like a CNC machine needs. The edges remain perfectly defined regardless of how large or small the image is reproduced at.
A scanned image will have a lot of additional "noise", colour variations within a particular fill area and other imperfections. Your scanned image can be converted to a vector using a program like Adobe Illustrator or Inkscape, but it isn't an automagic change. Manual editting is usually essential.

This is the one I use for my business: https://www.crestcreations.com/contact-us/ (I am not affiliated nor do I receive any credit for referrals). I've found them to be very responsive and quick with the end product, and great customer service if you're not happy.
They can take your scanned image can create a vector and/or an embroidery file. A vector would be best, then your embroiderer can scale it to the size you want. An embroidery file is a fixed size and the stitching may not match what your embroiderer feels provides a quality end product. Digitization for a simple design usually runs between $5 and $10 USD.

If I were going to try and recreate the image accurately, I wouldn't rely on a photo from the internet. Maybe find an original (or reproduction) owner's manual from a '69 that will have a decently sized and very clear image you could copy and digitally play with to scale. That or an original letter or something with the Olds letterhead printed on it, although that would definitely be harder to come by.
