Corvette referencing a rocket

I had a tight cringing feeling when I heard the line "America still builds rockets!"
Grrrr!
It is up on youtube....

Disappointing, but at least it is staying in GM though...
Yesterday I saw a toyo magazine ad touting travelling in "avalon style".
Cadillac used that slogan a number of years ago referencing "cadillac style".
Wonder if there will be a lawsuit over it?

Well guys I heard on a comercial for a car company (don't remeber which one) and they used the tag line "dont just trade in, Trade Up" and that was used by Olds in 70 or 71. They have the classic comercial of olds using that on youtube and was a real comercial back in the day. i have not heard the vette one yet

A good idea, but that would be a total nightmare... Ever called a big company in the past several years? Those 'automated' systems seem to get one nowhere (and I think that is their purpose...)
Now I did find out that cussing at the American airlines system WILL divert your call to a live person.

I agree about the misplaced reference but I have to admit that is one bad-*** commercial. BMW's slogan, "The ultimate driving machine" was first used to describe an early 60s Pontiac too. Go figure. That Corvette commercial was the first one for Corvette in over 20 years. It's nice to see "the General" touting it's performance again. I've read they have been VERY cautious on when and where this ad has run (usually at night, on ESPN, SPEED, etc., staying away from Prime-time Networks) as to not stir up the PC crowd.

Corvette borrowing (stealing?) from Olds is nothing new, it is just usually more subtle. See the pic of the louvers in the yellow '68 Corvette? See the pic of the louvers in the red *'65* Jetstar 1?

You guys worry too much. I have not seen it but I assume its for a ZR1 Corvette. It you drive one you will see its closer to a rocket than anything Olds ever built. I had a customer bring one in for service the other day and I asked honestly "how fast have you taken it up to?" He said he had it up to 198 once on the tollway.

Not to split hairs Kurt but the Yellow 'Vette you pictured is a '70-'72. Good point though.

Regardless, it is still a later offering of basically the same thing.

The link shows your right. The 68-69 had vertical louvers or grills whatever you want to call them. Earlier every pic I could pull up must have been a 70-72 but titled as a 68. That's what I hate about the internet.
