Correct Air Cleaner 442

Good morning;

Wondering what is the orginal air cleaner on a 67 442? Does it make a difference as to 4 speed or automatic?

Was there some 'late production change' that changed but I can't find any info on it.

Thanks for any info.

Air Cleaner

Automatics used an air cleaner with a snout on early models. Late automatic cars had a round enclosed air cleaner with a smaller pie pan base. Don't know when in production run change was made.

air cleaner

I have a 1967 442 4 speed convertible The air cleaner is open faced There is a pie plate on the bottom & the top lid is chrome with a removable decal. I don,t have the car home @ this moment but i,m sure the decal says oldsmobile @ the top ultra high compression under the oldsmobile word & @ the bottom it says 442 & on the r side use premium fuel. friskyjake

in addition to the CCC air cleaner ..... the '67 442 used the following other air cleaners:
L to R - early automatic, manual transmission (3 & 4 speed), W30 (auto & 4-speed), late automatic

Nice pics to illustrate. Getting down to exact details, there are actually 2 versions of all of those except the open element type.
K20 California crankcase ventilation versions had an additional hose connection in the bases. Manual transmission K20 442s with K50 got a CCC air cleaner (K20 version) and the K20 442s got the snorkel(early)/no snorkel(late) "automatic" air cleaners with the K20 bases.
So no California cars got the open element air cleaners. Total number of 442 air cleaners for '67: 9.
