Coolant ?

I went to top off the coolant in my Trofeo today and realized that I have forgotten what was used when I had her resurrected last year, so I guess it is time to change it! I can use IAT (old-school green) or HOAT (various colors) as long as it shows meeting GM 1825M, correct?

Did your car take the extended-life coolant originally? If so, then I would stick with that. If it originally took the conventional green coolant, then anything will work.

Those extended-life coolants say right on the container that they're usable in any cooling system. I think the problem arises when going the other way and trying to use the old-style green coolant in a car meant to take the extended-life.

It's kind of hard to make out, but note what it says just above the word Prestone on the label for this one. "All Makes, All Models of cars and light trucks, Mix with ANY Color Antifreeze."

Similar labeling on this one in the upper left corner.

Can you siphon out a little bit and see what color it is? That will indicate what you put in it last time...
I always wondered how true Prestone's claim is. Can it be mixed with red or orange or blue? Geez... Coolant choice is so confusing. And what the heck do you put in a kia? Cannot find anything definite other than the dealer stuff.

I agree with Rob siphon out and look at color, 1995 and up GM pass. veh, take dexcool. That Trefeo should have been typical green stuff.
