Can anyone recommend a rechrome shop in Fla.?

I don't know if there are any in Fla. I used Goodmark to rechrome the bumpers on my 71 98. Definitely don't use them or any company that sends the parts to Brainerd, MN for chorming. I spent plenty on my bumpers and the chrome on the rear bumper is already failing and it hasn't even been 10 years yet.

ALL chroming is expensive. You keeping the car, pay for good, if just local shows, occasional drives, inside storage, or putting it for sale, you may be able to cut corners. Price of chemicals, labor and environmental laws make it cost.

I was expecting to spend about $1k to get the bumper rechromed. I'm worried about it costing significantly more than that. The car's going to be outside a lot though, so it might be worth the extra cost. The place is about a two-and-a-half hour drive, so it's a long way to get an estimate.

As Charlie said, "cheap and good pick one". Perhaps you could check out a local body shop and ask them where they get their rechrome bumpers. Maybe they can give an idea on cost.
I guess, I would consider recommendations from people on this site. There IS a reason they give you names of places.
