Well I had a bad infection in my foot and I fought it for almost 2 years. Yes I am diabetic but when you get an infection in te bone it's very hard to beat. It's been 2 years since I lost my lower leg but I'm doing very good. Thanks

Yes, I did try to sell in the great recession. New construction dryed up. And had bills that could choke a horse! No one want to pay close to the little I was asking for. That worked out. I did not want to sell.

It needs a paint job after so many years and mileage. But will do after new engine, more frame upgrades, other work.

I looked up the color carefully for Mustang. And even park next to one the same color. Its Laser Red Pearl Metallic Tri-coat. Still something esle to see in full sunlight!

photo from few weeks ago at the detailer. On 17'' wheels, 13'' brakes in the front, 12'' disc in the rears. Black hood vents you can hardly see. Add some more pinstripes. Still a good paint job from 10 -20 feet away. New S60 rear end coming the 650 hp engine.

Yes, same rear., added a strange cover, sold the 442 cover here.. Your 60 over 350 engine was great. The cam was wicked! I wanted more, I heavily ported the 7a heads that had BBO valve in it already by you. Along with the performer rpm intake. Added Roller rockers, elect fans. Huge add to HP. But started to twist the frame. Fixed that next. Had a guy work on the rockers on one side, me on the other. He did not tighten one too good. Crack the head and hot water bowed out the side of the cylinder wall. This one now still has the same N crank. . . I think, talking to you on the phone to buy the car. I would say to you in a heavy Italian - brooklyn accent 'She' ****-in beautiful'! YES yes it's a beautiful car.

I built that car because I wanted to do a no rules car. I really enjoyed doing it.

I feel the same way. Had a 84 H/O new. But the salt on the roads in NY. Rusted her up. No matter how many time I washed her. This one has never seem a salt road. Interior and Lighting rods from the 84 H/O

Oh mounted the same tachometer in the same location. Can't Thank You Enough, Mike, for selling to me. I know others wanted her also. I have taken good care of her!

Anything I can do for you, please let me know. John

just goes to show you there isn't the passion to keep up the EV discussion. Never been a fan of the g body, but those cars were beaters in the 90s when everyone I knew had an $800 one. Nice to see one better than new.

Me + a chill pill = absolutely no activity. I’m as sedate as a person could be.

The topic was EVs and you folks took it into a personal dialogue about a G body. And now you’re giving me grief?

no grief intended. You've given me a lot of good advice in the past and I appreciate it.

EV are not pretty, zero styling! Tesla have names that have no imagination! At 65 have driven most of the late 60's, early 70's muscle cars. Newer Corvettes and many souped up street drag cars.

As I said before the model Y AWD I test drove and have ordered. Is the fastest off the line car I ever driven. The ride is better than the 1985 Eldorado and Sevilles that I have.

Instead of talking about EV's, shouldn't the subject be about the power grid?

Took Rosie to a local cars and coffee, which is somewhat ironic that it is held around empty electric pumps. 🤔

then how do you explain the first EV being made around 1840 and we still can’t get society on board with how fabulous they are?

range has been the problem since day one. Cold weather and hot weather is another.

180 plus years in development and you talk like they just came out .

our power grids can’t handle heat waves with all the A/C running in our houses now. It’s not uncommon for EV owners in California to be told to not charge up because the grid can’t handle it.

I own a hybrid.. it’s a good compromise. But even that is frowned on these days

I think they are the appropriate technology for where we are today. We just don’t have the electrical grid to support full EV yet.

California just gets stupider and stupider every day. Maybe they won't need the power with all the people moving out of the state. Here is an interesting part of the article.

Moreover, the state has suffered blackouts in heat waves due to the lack of sufficient energy, as fossil fuel power plants are phased out, along with nuclear power plants. Solar and wind power are not yet able to make up the missing power supply because they are unreliable in calm conditions and in overcast weather.

Boy that video was made a number of years ago. Jay was a few pounds lighter (like many of us) and still had a little color in his hair. What a great guy.

Right now, I believe that the culture and the infrastructure are not ready for BEV (battery electric vehicles) in a large way. I think that certain parts of society are culturally ready, and, as long as there is not wide-spread adoption, the infrastructure can handle it. Toyota, historically the green vehicle leader, was not betting on BEVs as they think the same as I do, or, more precisely, I agree with them. The Mirai, a fuel cell vehicle running off hydrogen, was the main direction, however, we are starting TBMNC, Toyota Battery Manufacturing North Carolina, for a battery plant. I don't want to go there as it will probably be a nasty facility, even more so than an engine plant. I expect Toyota to field domestic manufactured BEV's in 3 years or so, but I have not heard anything firm.

The green vehicle scene is very image driven. It doesn't matter if the electrical grid can't handle it, or that lithium or nickel-hydride batteries are nasty to make, or that the electrical energy in your battery was initially powered by coal or other natural gas, the image is very important to a large market segment. Toyota works very hard at just making tech with an eye toward progress image, but they don't pick sides on political or activist groups, because they want to sell to them all. This is how they can make pickups in truck country, and Prii in New York; they want everyone as a customer.

A few technical notes:
-Hybrids and BEVs benefit from urban driving. The engine is off at any stoplight, and you regenerate power every time you brake. Careful driving from light to light can keep the engine off.
-Hybrids and BEVs benefit from short trips, especially with chargers available. The best use of a BEV, or a special kind of hybrid called a Plug In Hybrid Vehicle (PHV), can top the batteries off wherever they can plug in. An ideal situation is a plug available at work and at home for a commuter.
-Hybrids and BEVs do NOT benefit from highway driving. They are heavier than the same gasoline engine'd car, and they are not shutting the engine off, or regenerating via brakes. You will get very close MPG, close enough to not justify the initial extra cost of the green vehicle.
-Electric charging is hard to do while mid-journey. They are optimizing it, but, just like high amp cell phone chargers, the faster it charges, the more dangerous the controlled energy is.
-Many places that are not politically progressive have less infrastructure in place for car chargers.
-The end-user electrical grid is not prepared for multiple users on a transformer charging BEVs or PHVs at the same time, as it is sized for anticipated load.

It is my estimate that, of the current ~25% of new vehicle sales that are hybrid, I think BEVs will take 5% from them, and another 5% from gas vehicles, for a 10% piece of the pie for the next decade or so. If someone is a car guy and likes wrenching on his driver, or he likes to keep the car forever, I recommend a gasoline car. If someone is not mechanically inclined, and if they don't keep it forever, I recommend a PHV, because it has all the hybrid advantages and most of the BEV advantages.
adding to the cons of a plug in; the cold weather is a killer.

i just read an article that a new Tesla loses 40% of its charge in very cold temps and that Tesla does not recommend exposing the car to -25 temps at all. Well that leaves out most of Canada for a few moths of the year and some northern states

I guess, not many of you are seeing these going up. But I have. Did a sprinkler job in Flagstone AZ. They where everywhere. Good shading for the car also. This one below not far where I lived in WV.

koda ''Cold temperatures can sap electric car batteries, temporarily reducing their range by more than 40% when interior heaters are used''.THAT FROM 2019. New Octovalve contains a four-position electric stepper motor whose job it is to apportion liquid gycol-based coolant to various components in the car and heating. But still has range reductions at full heater mode.

Tesla owner "We were in Mont Tremblant, PQ, a couple of weeks ago. Overnight / morning temperatures were -27 degrees celsius. Two other cars were charging at the time. I tried to add a bit of charge to the battery, but charging was extremely sporadic. The screen seemed to flicker between charging and not charging. Waited until the temperature rose to -17 degrees. Everything worked fine"

Cool projects Highway. These are great ideas and the kind of thing that should have been planned out before basically mandating that vehicles go all electric by a certain date. Having a goal to renovate/ update the national power grid and add much more solar, wind, and water power by a certain date would make much more sense. Let EV's take the market share at their own pace while getting the power grid ready for them. I realize that it is not practical/ possible to standardize batteries across different manufactureres but does anyone know if there is a standard charging connection that is being used across all manufacturers?

Loaded68W34 I think it will probably all happen at the same time. .Mandating is to push it along or a kick in the *** to get there. Nice Toro, I always like it in black. But love the color of yours.

I know this will open a can of worms. Mandating better gas mileage and safety. Was the only way you could move the automakers, when i was a kid.

Come on! Gas companies have been screwing the consumer, For the 65 years I been on this earth! Seen this a few times already. Any reason to rise prices and have windfall profits! Go look how much they are making this time. It will blown your mind.
