Is this number on the id pad drivers side just under the head ?

The other numbers is the ending vin number of the car

3 = oldsmobile
0= 1970
X= Kansas plant

3=oldsmobile
9=1969
D= ?

Maybe a B ? Baltimore plant

Yes, that's where these numbers were at. What numbers on the block will tell me if these were " A " body , or "B " body engines?

From my understanding you can't tell from that number but if they have the filler tube there should be a sticker with a two digit code that can tell you

I could be wrong as this info was found on olds FAQ 442.com

Here is another option to look at

Taken from olds FAQ

Drain Plug
Big cars generally had the block drain only in the rear boss - which your motor mount would now cover up. If the block drain plug is between the front [unused in your car] motor mount hole and the next hole [your motor mount's front bolt here], it was probably an A-body motor; rare for a big block. This gets overlooked in a LOT of motor swaps.

D is Atlanta Georgia. Both those blocks would be B bodies because A bodies weren't made at either plant

In 68-69 the A body plants were:

M-Lansing, MI
Z-Fremont, CA
E-Linden, NJ
I (or 1?) Oshawa, Canada

I think in 70 they stopped making A-bodies Olds in Oshawa and switched to G-Framingham, MA but I'm not sure

Oshawa was the numeral "1". You are correct, 1969 was the last model year Olds built there.
