My '68 442 convertible was bought by my (still) best friend in June of 1968 at Dave Cross Motors in Lee's Summit, MO, a Kansas City suburb. We chased lots of girls in that car, and caught a few. My friend drove it as his daily driver until about 1973, when he bought a VW bug for his daily driver and used the Olds for recreational fun only. He kept it until 2013. He never got married or had kids, and told me that he'd willed the car to me if anything happened to him, and I was to pass it on to my son (medical school and then dental school) when I died. It was last tagged in 1985. In 2013, he called me and told me he was tired of storing it, and to come get it, which I did.
HE said he got tired of people pestering him about selling it every time he left the garage door open when he got out the lawn mower to mow the grass. When my son and I were loading it on the U-Haul trailer, a guy came by on his bicycle and said he'd tried to buy the Olds for his 16-year-old son's first car, and was told not only,"NO", but "HELL NO". HE asked what we were doing with the car, and we told him we were taking it to the salvage yard, as my buddy was tired of people asking him about the car. The guy about pooped his pants. I refused to tell him which salvage yard we were taking it to, as my buddy was simply tired of people asking him about the car and he simply wanted rid of it. I let the guy get crazy for about 30 minutes and then told him that my friend just gave me the car. He pooped his pants again.
I brought it home (from Arlington, TX to Coffeyville, KS) got it running (I took the GM training course, and was a factory-trained Buick mechanic by Sept of 1967, before I went to college and law school), replacing all the stuff that went stale in the 28 years it sat idle. It still has the factory original paint and interior, and has 95k miles on it. I'll never sell it, and my son knows he can never sell it. When I picked up the Olds, I gave my buddy a baseball signed my every member of the 1963 Chicago Cubs that my uncle got for me when he lived in Mesa, AZ, where the Cubs conducted spring training. I'd say I made a pretty good trade.

I’ll answer this a little differently. Have had many cars over the years, from daily driver’s to fun cars. But my first new car, a black ‘87 Buick Lesabre T-type, has been a sore point for over 3 decades. It got trashed. Partially my fault, but also due to door dings and hit and run type stuff while parked (I had it my senior year at college then first year of grad school). Some a-hole keyed it. Highway rock chips. Carelessly hitting things with its low front air dam. On and on. Was really an eye opener to see it go from perfect to horrid in 2 years. I finally traded it because I couldn’t bear looking at it. Black shows all those imperfections the worst.
Ive looked for one of these on and off for 20 years. Passed on some so-so cars. Passed on a couple too-expensive nice ones too. Finally found a near mint example for the right price about a month ago. This one’s an ‘88, but near identical to my
old one but for the better (first year for the 3800) better motor and lack of two-tone Grand National-like seats that today strike me as hokey anyway.
Love driving this thing. Brings back a lot
Of memories (some bad, as mentioned above) but mostly good. Not w I have an opportunity to keep it nice, since it’ll be garaged and kept out of harm’s way. I’m also older and more careful than I was when I was in my early 20s. Of all t he car's I've owned, this was the one I wanted back the most, and that includes my old '66 442 convertible.
Here's the full list of cars I've owned (excluding a couple winter beaters owned very briefly and all cars owned jointly with my wife); bold means I still own it:
1. 1974 Chrysler New Yorker sedan

Ages 16-22 while living at home and sharing with other family members:
1995 Mustang - my parents car that I spent a good amount of time driving my first few years on the road
1995 Ford Contour - the first car that was bought for me used by my parents in about 2001. I would split my time between this and the Mustang until my sister got her license and quickly crashed this Contour
In college, I drove a 2002 and 2005 Chevy Cavalier...
Since the end of college/when they truly became my own cars:
The first car i bought new and for myself was a 2006 Mazda 3 base model. No frills at all but i loved this car.
I sold it to a friend in 2014 and got the 2012 BMW 128i I have today. Easily the best performance of all of these cars so far but also needy in terms of my money.
I added the 1983 Delta 88 just over a year ago. It has a few issues but nothing costly and I love taking this thing out. It splits miles with my BMW.
Cars my wife has had in our time together and I've driven a fair amount:
2005 Chrysler Sebring and 2015 Acura RDX
Cars my parents had while I've been around but before I was of driving age:
Dad: 82 Mazda RX7, 89 Camaro, then the 1995 mustang referenced above
Mom: 76 Cutlass, 88 Caravan, 94 Ford Aerostar

Ok, I’ll play. Some of theses cars I bought for parts, some I bought to sell and make a buck, some I bought just because. I’m sure I will forget some, and in no particular order
1964 Nove
74 Córdoba (Rich Corinthian leather!)
my current 69 Cutlass
75 Comet
70, 71, 72, 73, 74, 75, 77 cutlass
78 Granada
68 Cutlass parts car
69 442 (wrecked BAD!!) parts car
78 Grand Prix
78,79,80, 81,83, 85,86, Cutlass
83 Delta 88 (moms car, learned to drive with this)
85 Delta 98
75 Pontiac Sunbird
81 Monte Carlo
87 442 T top (would LOVE to know where this one is today!!)) ex wife got this one, sold it 2 years later.
3 different 87 Cutlass, one was wrecked bad in the rear.
95 GMC 1/2 ton stepside (first ever new vehicle)
1999 Ram Off Road truck
69 Vista Cruiser wagon. Parts car
2001 Ram 3/4 4x4 5.9 diesel. Last of the old body style, last of the noisy 24 valve before the new common rail engine)
90 GMC S-15. 4.3 “HYBRID” , it burned gas AND oil.
93 Buick celebrity
81 GMC truck. 455 Olds powered (technically my dads truck). Belonged to my grandfather. The 5.7 Olds diesel quit right before my grandfather died in 91. My dad bought it from my grandmother in 95, told me to get it running. Since I hoard 455 engines, that’s what went in it!!
2006 Ram 2500 Mega Cab 4x4 diesel. Current truck
2001 Neon (my beater drive to work car)
98 Sebring. Bought it with a junk engine. Plan was to put an engine in it for #2 stepdaughter first car. Found out the 2.7 v6 engine is very expensive used, because most of them ARE junk. If you find a good one, your going to pay big bucks, and pray that it doesn’t become junk. Sold the new tires what were on the car, sent the rest to that big scrapyard in the sky.

Here is a list of the convertibles I have owned, as best as I can remember. But I could not possibly count the total cars. I did keep a count for one 12 year period and it was 220 something cars in those years. Then decided it probably wasn't wise to have a list at all.
1, 1929 Ford roadster
2, 1962 Corvette, Maroon, black, both tops, 4 speed
3, 1964 Corvette, black, black, both tops, 4 speed
4, 1966 Corvette, red, red, both tops, 4 speed
5, 1968 Corvette, black, silver, soft top only, made over to look like an 82 vette and had a 82 collector series interior.
6, 1970 Corvette, white with green interior. automatic.
7, 1975 Corvette, dark bronze metallic, black interior & top, automatic
8, 1990 Corvette, red, red, white top, automatic

18, 1967 Olds Cutlass, white out/ blue buckets in, white top. Original everything. It had the Turnpike Cruiser option, very rare. Not a hot rod but made for cruising the highways. With that option you get a 400 engine, 400 trans w/ switch pitch, climatic combustion control with 2bbl carb and something like 256 rear gear or something, cant remember all the details, read here
