A bit of bucking

Have 86 Cutlass, 403, 3.42 rear. When I let up on gas to slow down, get some bucking. These engines aren't known for high compression, so what might the source be?? Thanx.

What do you mean by bucking? It accelerates and then slows down, drive train play and a clunk? Engine wants to die??

Check your spark plugs/dist if it's stalling/jolting could be misfiring... otherwise if nots motor check ring and pinion.

I would check for to much timming.

Idle says 800-900, don't think it goes any lower. Did advance the timing a tad, maybe time to back it off again. Appreciate the ideas--nothing like experience to solve a problem.
