Barn Find 50

Looks like my 58 Ninety Eight is getting a stable mate. This 1950 Super 88 hasn't seen the light of day since the early 60s. Spotted her 4 years ago while out ghost town hunting and finally got in touch with the owner. Next month we will open the Oldsmobile's dark hiding place and get her going again.

Wow for once a true story! This really is a barn find Most of the time it isn't truly a barn that has been setting for years.I love these stories.

Interested in how this turns out. I'm down the road in Tuttle. Good luck with it.

Got her home

We got the 50 picked up and home this weekend. Even after sitting some 40 years she rolled well. We gave her a bath and now we will start trying to awaken her. She is a lightly equipped non-Deluxe model. Options are Heater, Radio, Hydramatic and full wheel covers (although she has the clips for the small hubcaps. Does anyone know where to get the black rubber stone guards?

Neat find, I also will keep a eye out on your build.

You might drop on down to the vintage forum and post your request for the stone guards on the 46-48 forum thread, these guys have a wealth of knowledge behind them..... Tedd

Very nice! What engine is that? Are yo going to hop this one up, or maybe drop in a newer Olds V8? Either way, excellent find!

SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!

Wow, she really cleaned up nicely.

IMO that car has just the right amount of patina on the original finish. If I were lucky enough to have her, I'd rebuild everything mechanical, spruce up the interior, and keep the body as-is... But then I love the look of a "derelict."

Congrats on a great find!
