Does anyone happen to live near Baden, Ontario? My brother is possibly interested in a Rallye 350 for sale by Countryside Automotive in Baden, and was hoping that someone could check the car since we live in Pennsylvania. He would pay for the time and fuel. Thanks, Anthony
There is a guy named Jerry Dejaegher in London Ontario about one hour away from Bayden. He sells Olds parts and does some resto work and has a fair bit of knowledge. I have dealt with him before and he is a straight shooter.
You could try him he may even know the car.

I hope this isn't the one i looked at a few years ago. The one i looked at wasn't as nice as the pics for sure. It ran like crap, actually wouldn't start once he shut it off, and tried to restart it. His wife drove the car to a small car lot where he met us, and she had to open the door for him on the passengers side because the door didn't work from the inside. Once the door was open, there was yellow over spray on the dash. It was awhile ago that i looked at it, and if i remember right there were some rust issues in the wheel tubs, but i looked at so many cars at the time they all kind of blend together. My dad wanted a car at that time and he walked away from this one.
Thank you everyone for your input and offers. Roger, your '71 442 looks great, I still kick myself for passing up on a '71 442 Viking blue/White convertible back in the early 80's. Sam, your collection of Oldsmobile's is to envy, a true best of the best. Shane, your W-31 must be mighty potent, is that your engine shown on the dolly?
I will talk with my brother and pass on the information. It seems it has come down to a choice between this Rallye and a '70 442 that is virtually rust free with many nice options but needs to be partially assembled and painted.
The Rallye can be seen at http://www.cars-on-line.com/74564.html. The owner, Bob at Countryside Automobiles, said that the car is completely stock except that it has a 10-bolt posi rear. He added that it has the special "higher spring perches" that were only installed on Rallye 350's - something I never heard of before.

Pleasure checking the car out for you today.
I have emailed you additional pictures of the car.
I'll let you post the details about the vehicle.

An update as to the outcome of this posting:
Sam, and his friend Tom, were very kind to travel to Baden to check the supposedly numbers matching Rallye 350. After they checked the engine and transmission, it was found that neither matched the Rallye's VIN, nor were they from the correct year. Also, the incorrect 10-bolt rear axle was found to be from a Chevy. It was determined by Same and Tom that the Rallye did drive well, and except for a few problems found with the OAI hood, grilles, and a rear quarter panel, the body is fairly solid.
Thanks again to Sam for being most gracious to make the trip to check the Rallye 350 for my brother. Without Sam and Tom's help, this may have had a very bad ending.
The Rallye is being sold by Countryside Automotive in Baden, Ontario, and the owner's name is Bob.
