Bad morning for a drive.

Not a fantastic day out with the daughter for a run.
Some gronk not watching when reversing out of a parking spot.

I hope he was adequately insured. That will take some surgery to repair and replacement panels won't be easy to find. Hopefully someone on here can help with that. Good Luck to you, that car looks like a nice one.

Thanks for that.
Yes well insured all underway for assessment and see what can be done. Rather it repaired so we can get underway again than written off.

John - Sorry to hear of your misfortune. Love your car since I've been following when you replaced the ignition coil.

That is painful to even look at. Good luck with the repairs. I hope you don't have a hassle with the insurance company. You may want to let your insurance company battle it out with the other company.

I'm no fan of the warning gizmos on modern cars, but they probably would've prevented this.

Please don't think insurance companies call the ball here. If you want the car repaired, get the car repaired. The body shop, of your choice, works for you. The insurance will reimburse you, perhaps not fully. Too many people think that they have to accept totalling, or accept crappy repairs, because that's all insurance will pay.

Do what you can with insurance, then pass the hat if you need more.

I’ll be taking it to the body shop mid next week for assessment they’ll put the info through to the insurance company. They will notify me in time to what is going to happen.

Alrighty,
Thanks for the interest and comments guys I appreciate it.

First time I’ve been able to stop since 6.30am this morning just trying to tidy her up the best I can as I still have a friend’s daughters formal on for Tuesday evening it’s Sunday night here 8.00pm. The young lady is still keen for the Olds and I’m still keen to deliver. Just have to be sure where they take pics now as to hide the bingle. She’ll be right though.

My daughter and I were just taking the Olds out for a test run to make sure everything is squared away for Tuesday. Well this bloke reversed out of his park without looking I was doing 4 km/h. Gosh don’t know how he didn’t see a 20 foot bright green boat behind him. He was all apologies he thought I was just going to wear it and move on, just an old car you know?

Turns out he is well known for being a bit of a drip around town. Anyway insurance company has been contacted they were very helpful. The way I have this insured is if it is a write-off I get payed out the insured sum plus I have ‘salvage rights’ which means I get the car back as well. That is of course if it is not repairable but we will know this in a few weeks after I take it to my (panel beater we call them here) or body shop.

The offending driver was on his Provisional Drivers Licence which means it’s not his full drivers licence as yet so he is still under certain restrictions so just a novice driver.

Pretty sure he has no Comprehensive Insurance on his vehicle ( to cover other vehicle’s damages I.e my Olds).
He’s going to be paying (or his parents more likely) for this for the next 20 years. Yes she’s insured for over 60 thousand. Hope he had no intentions of putting a deposit on a house any time soon.
