Alternative for Plastic Chrome

Alternative for Plastic Chrome
The raised chrome portions on the plastic dash on my 70 442 were weak, and I used the chrome paint pens that you can buy in hobby stores.
It was OK, and I did not want to spent hours pulling the dash to have it vacuum metalized.
I found a product called Bare Metal Foil. It is a very thin chrome foil that is used in the model car hobby.
With some practice and patience, you can restore the chrome edges on your dash. It actually looks as good as vacuum metalizing.

I agree on the 68 thru 71 Vacuum Metalizing isnt cost effective.I would recommend this.
Strip the IP/Instrument Panel.
Use a paint that has a High Luster Silver and a compatible Gloss Clear Coat.
Enamel to Enamel.
Mask off the areas to remain Silver ..Using a good Masking tape and cut the areas that are to remain silver with an Exacto Knife. Its Surgical. But can be done..Follow up with your IP Color Coat..And Matte Clear ..
