To all you guys in Texas-who's gonna be first

out of you guys to drive your new super highway? An 85mph speed limit sounds quite inviting but I heard a $6.00 toll each way. Get yourself a good radar detector and have some fun. I wonder if the LEO's will give a 10mph cushion before they start pulling people over.

I have to say I'm a bit jealous that sounds prett cool to be able to get out and open up some of these older cars.

Well have fun,be safe and watch out for all the knuckleheads who think they can run w/ the big boys.

Wish we had one in IL, but no such luck. My speedometer stops at 80 so I could claim I didn't know how fast I was going if I got pulled over

The Dallas Morning News this morning said that there were 4 wrecks on that new 85 MPH stretch of toll road the first night............one SUV rollover, one deer hit, and two hogs.........the hogs won one of them; car that hit it had to be towed!!!!! These are wild hogs; Texas is overrun with them - some of them over 400 pound weight!!!

The first section, that has been open a long time, had 80 mph limit but you had to be going lot faster to keep from being run down. Wonder how many blown engines will show up on this stretch?

I'm from Houston, but was stationed near Corpus Christi and those Hogs was ramming all white vehicles on base. Messed up a guy's 72 Cutlass convertible so bad it bent the frame a little and almost turned the car over.

Cld - try going on 355, north or south, during the day!
I go 74 with the cruise on, and get passed by women going 85 or 90!

I know a few places in the area where you can go 80 or 90 without running into trouble. The rural-ish roads are fun, but watch out for guys with fart can exhausts doing 0-60 runs

My parents took the 130 toll road on Friday evening to come to the San Antonio BOP...they said the speed limit being 85 doesn't change much. People were still driving the same speed they always did (about 80) it was just legal to do so now. They also saw quite a few hogs on the side of the road and kept their speed down because of them. Overall it's nothing new for Texans to get used to, it's just a little less work for State Troopers looking for cars going 10 miles over the speed limit as most people will push a 75 mph zone to 85 mph, but not many are pushing their minivans from 85 to 95.

And they are probably 1 car length from the person in front of them, talking on the cell phone and trying to do their make-up.

And just because you can go fast on I10, these ******** we have here think you can go fast in ANY condition, and here is what happens.

http://www.wfaa.com/news/2-killed-in...180526691.html

HOUSTON—Foggy conditions caused nearly 100 vehicles to collide on Interstate 10 between Houston and Beaumont Thanksgiving morning. Two Pearland residents were killed in the crash, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.
The accident happened on I-10 East near Hamshire Road around 8 a.m., causing the highway to shut down in both directions.
Acadian Ambulance spokewoman Denise Richter said, in addition to the fatality, at least 48 people were transported to the hospital for treatment and several were critically injured, according to KFDM.
I-10 West reopened shortly after noon, but I-10 East will remain closed at least another eight to 10 hours, according to officials.

100 cars?? Never heard of such a pileup around here; Thanksgiving morning, too. Geez...

Some of the footage they showed on the Houston Fox channel of that pile up was incredible. They reported 150 cars involved with 2 fatalities and 80-90 injured. Be careful out there. Going to Autorama now.
