AC Conversion Thread???
Hi all,
I seem to remember a thread on here about converting your AC system to the new gas, but I can't find it???
Anyone have it booked marked and wouldn't mind replying with a link??
OR is it more realistic to go with a new vintage air system?
Thoughts?
Thanks,
Kensey

If you do a search on POA valves, you would see a ton of info.
Personally, I found it cheaper to replace most my a/c components than to convert to Vintage Air. But it might be different in your area. I wound up replacing my compressor and clutch, evaporator, drier, O rings and the POA valve to convert. Total cost for the parts was about $300 (it was 2 years ago and prices will change). I chose a cycling switch instead of a new POA to keep the costs down, but so far I have had no issues.

Kensey, I would suggest going to a Vintage Air system. I ditched the compressor and lines on my 71 98. I hate the look of the OE suction throttling valve systems. I much prefer the neat look of an orifice tube system.
I did use r152a (computer air duster) in the AC system of my 86 f250 as a sustitute for r12. It worked for 1 year but when I recharged it again it didn't work. You can Google YouTube videos on this work around. Of course, it's illegal, but to each his own.
