Shucks, I was already packing! Regarding the price, I'm certainly no expert but if it's as advertised it doesn't seem that bad. Personally I wasn't crazy about the vinyl top molding and the lack of engine bay pics but that's easily remedied by the owner emailing more pics. Numbers matching, 4 speed, '70 real 442... what's not to like? Waiting for one of the experts to weigh in and give us the scoop!

I don't think that's a crazy price considering how much it costs to fix one of these cars up as well as buy the parts in the first place. At least it looks like it was painted 70 ralley red but the lack of vinyl top is weird. Simple fix, that's what $600 - $1000 and the car would look great.
Its a bare bones, 4-speed 442, lots a value in that. The passenger side fender is a 71/72 or a repo. I do not see the washer fluid jug either not sure where that is, carpet looks new but needs some tightening up. Missing some of the air cleaner tubes and the heat pipe, radiator might be an original but is wrong color. Under-hood light was an option as well - its not listed in ad. Shouldn't there be pin stripes on the side and deck lid. Hood looks correct with the Oldsmobile on the driver side front (I think that's correct for 442's without OIA)
Over all a pretty nice car, need to see in person. I could see this being a 30k plus car with some detailing and tweaks. I'd prefer it be the original gold rather than resale red.

That car has been for sale for almost a year now at that price. One can conclude that this means the price is too high. I think $21500 is fair on that car if it is solid.
When they removed the vinyl top during the last re-paint they should have removed the vinyl top trim or added a second paint color in place of the vinyl or re-installed the vinyl. Personally I love 2 tone paint cars.

I'd offer 19 and go up to 20, assuming the engine and trans are numbers matching. Correctly restored stick 442s in that condition are 30k cars; there's too much wrong with that one to command that kind of coin. If it were in worse shape, it'd be the car to drive the crap out of and enjoy it, but it's in too good of shape, but wrong, to do that. I want to know about those console-less buckets, too.

HI , I am looking at a this 70 442 Hardtop 4 speed but it has no a/c. with a/c wondering how many 4 sps produced. Also do you know if the w30 4 speed in 1970 could be ordered with a/c

As John said it is a few hours from him and it is also a few hours from me. It has been for sale on Craigslist locally for over a year. We can pick it apart and we can appreciate it for what it is also. If someone on here is interested. I would for expenses go look at it for them as well.
My 70 That I got from John doesn't have a OAI hood. YET

This is a tough one. If the paint is in really nice condition, mechanically it is sound, and it has the tin worm in check you can have a nice driver all in for about 28K after installing a new vinyl top and doing some underhood and interior detailing. This is all predicated on the new owner liking vinyl tops.

if you look close you can see the little crumple zones on the lip of the passenger side fender. Reason that it is important to point out is it either means the car was in an accident, had rust issues or something else. The car may be mint but it is just another item to check out. Unfortunately many 70's have had their fenders replaced. Mine included for no reason except for a lazy body shop.

Not much to ad here the car looks priced right to me. the missing top is weird. I was considering painting my 70 rally red to make it pop.
mine already has the vinyl in place but just a 70 cutlass with a 71 look
