66 442 Quarter window trim

Does any one have suggestions on how to remove the old leading edge chrome
trim/rubber seal on the quarter window on a 66 442 convert? I've seen the replacement parts advertised, but I don't see how to remove/replace without breaking the glass.

I use a dowel and put it on the edge of the chrome and hit it forward tap with a hammer on the dowel if you need to. it will pop off.

If you only want to replace the rubber seal it can be done without removing the chrome. The rubber has a metal strip inside and it slides and is probably glued from the bottom up. I had to use pliers to twist the old rubber enough to get it out, then the new one slides in easily. Use some 3M trim adhesive. I bought my rubber from Metro Rubber and its mostly nice stuff, however i wasnt impressed with the quarter window trim, it pretty wimpy. Ordered new again from OPGI, its made by Softseal and it seems much more like original. I think you can order direct from Softseal and maybe get it a little cheaper, not sure, but if you order it, once its in your hands you can see better how it goes in. I did have my windows out of the car, but once installed i could see the rubber can be installed with the windows in the car, if you remove the jamb seal.
