330 LC Octane and Lead Requirements
Hey everyone. Just picked up my 66 F85 Holiday Deluxe. She is a one owner all original and I drove her straight 120 miles from New Jersey to CT. This car is a 2v with LC 330. I believe that is 9:1 as opposed to the 10.25:1 HC motor. She has 72,000 original miles and I have service records going back to the 70's. Truly perfectly maintained. I was wondering what you guys think of using regular unleaded (87-89) fuel. Would you recommend 93 or is low test fine. Also, I will not be driving it often maybe 1000-1500 miles per year, do you think lead is required.Motor is completely original with no head work having ever been completed (no hardened valve seats). Let me know what you guys think. I will post some pics shortly.

Well some of the studies show that the lead builds up on the valve seats and stays on there for years and years. So no additive required as far is I'm concerned. Mine is the HC330/4V, I run the midgrade gas, 89 octane, here in Texas. I also add Lucas fuel treatment every couple of months. Mine is a daily driver!
Timing set to 12deg btc, standard plugs, and a points distributor with dwell set to 30. You should be fine!
I just recently broke into the original engine and did a valve job as I found a head gasket leak while replacing the valve guide seals @ 126k miles.
If you plan to let it sit for long periods of time, sta-bil is your best friend!!!! Do not let your car sit with no fuel stabilizer in it!
Great find, and good luck!

I also have the 330 HC motor, but mine is not running right now. It's sitting in a plastic bag coocoon in Mom's garage.
However when I had my 350, I put in a lead additive every tank. I found out after the car was totalled it really wasn't neccessary. I put it in every tank because I would only fill it up every 4 to 6 weeks, and I couldn't keep track on when I did and didn't use it. I wanted to use it every other tank.
Anyway, with my 330, I plan on running 93 or better, but mine is also a HC motor
