1972 Cutlass Supreme trunk lock

The trunk lock cylinder is removed from my 1972 Cutlass Supreme trunk lid, can you use a screwdriver to open the trunk ?
I can't seem to make that work

Yes, flat head, long, thin narrow blade. Google for a picture of the lock cylinder rod, you are trying for that shape. Also helps to push down on trunk lid a bit to lessen tension.

Shine a light in the trunk lock hole and you should be able to see the rectangular hole that the screwdriver needs to go into. turn clockwise to unlatch.
