1972 cutlass price/condition check?

Found this posted yesterday

http://cincinnati.craigslist.org/cto/2401520110.html

Going to go check it out tonight if possible. Anything I should look for in particular besides rust issues? Anything that might make it a rare/valuable car by ny chance? Does the price seem reasonable if I can drive it away?

Thoughts/opinions? Never owned one of these before, but I do like the body style.

From what I see it it worth $1400.00 asking price, although I'd try to bring $1000.00 cash in hand to the plate and see what happens. Better hurry this one is a deal IMO. Might ought to line up a rollback just in case or a milk crate to sit on if it does run. Let's see 1972 350 Olds desirable, no vinyl top nice, body seems straight, has bumpers and grilles, SS1's, side view mirrors, says it runs and drives, looks like factory A/C and no reasonable offers refused. Call him it's a steal from what I see.

I agree, looks good to me, if its really a driver its a great price you can throw a bench seat in there if need be or later cheaper buckets

Waiting on a call back for directions/location/details right now. I figured if I can drive it home for $1000, I'm going to grab it providing it's not rotten underneath.

Check the front clip/core support since it appears to have a '70 hood on it, and that isn't just a bolt-on item for a '71-72. I'd also place bets that those are Buick road wheels or maybe '69 14x6 SSIs, but not the rarer '71 all-chrome 14x7 SSIs.

I thought the wheels looked like buick's myself, but those pics make it a little difficult to tell for sure.

Thanks for the info on the front clip. That's definitely something to look at more closely. Didn't catch that it was different til you mentioned it.

Did you ever hear back from them? I never got a return call, and I had to work way late tonight. Hoping you picked it up since I never heard a thing. Might try and call again tomorrow morning.

Talked to them a couple of times. Found out the trans is weak and that there is a hole in the floor pan on the driver's side the size of a fist. Still not bad, but mulling it over.

Sounds good... well, decent at least. Since you've talked with them already and are thinking it over I won't try again in the morning. Don't need to give them the idea that it's something people will price fight over. If there seems to be little intrest it might keep the price lower. Especially if it sits a while and then gets a repost.

Thanks for the update!
