A 72 conversion to a muscle car? Sounds kind of redundant......

I figure if you put huge wheels (over 20") on a car like this you look like a donkey. So maybe it's a shorter version of that.

A donk is a car that usually has 24 inch wheels or bigger and is raised high to accommodate for the oversize rims. It's a term that was originated in Miami. I like big wheels but would never refer to a cutlass or any other muscle car as a donk....

if you lift a vehicle to put larger than reDONKulous rims, it's a donk, no matter the model. I just wish they'd stop donk'ing cutlass's.

Actually the model does matter. There are 3 terms for these lifted cars and it depends on the model.

Donk - n: A car that the owner really wanted a 4x4 truck, but instead decied to buy a car. Usually spending 3 to 5 times what the car is worth on rims, 6 times the worth of the car by throwing in tires. Also it is required that a vechile to fit donk status, the vechile must retain stock brakes, stock axle, stock drive shaft, stock rear end and stock spindals to make the car completely and totally unsafe at any speed due to the weight on one wheel weighing more than all 4 of the orginal wheels put together. The only real benifits to a donk is not having to rasie the vechile in order to change the oil. Donks look even cooler not being able to stop, burning up brakes faster, snapping axles, breaking spindals.

A real donk is a glasshouse impala or caprice 70s era raise up on 24" or bigger rims. A cutlass isn't really a donk. If you can fit bigger rims and keep stock ride height of lower it go for they look pretty good. But since I'm not putting any money into your ride go with whatever u like.

And after the hideous conversion, the impala (animal) was ridiculed into a donkey, thus the term "donk"...
The term is still loosly applied to cars of other makes that have been converted this way.

Donk, scrapers, high ridaz. Donks is just the name that stuck. It's a Florida thing really they get the credit for starting that. How they came up with the name I don't know.

Must be on a trailer for a reason.... Probably cause it can't steer?? Or maybe accelerates like a Galapagos turtle?

I do buy into the paint theme. That car is sunk.

as most of those cars in the video go I like this paint job, I just don't get the huge rims- but then again I don't like anything much larger than 17s on these cars - I have a hard time going with 15s on mine.

Redog's definition kinda really nails it.

A lifted classic with ginormous rims typically.
It's popular in the hip hop culture.

Its more of a Down South look, I even seen a magazine called DONKS with that Cutlass from the video in it. I never liked the look on the Cutlass but there are some that fit 24's on their cars with no lift and it looks fine - to me! I do prefer Ralleys & meaty tires - 295-50-15's. Every has their preference, but the lifted look is just ugly on the Cutty's!!!

That's not hip hop culture that's like saying rolls royce, bentleys, ferrraris and phantoms are hip hop culture. But go to any hip hop concert people ride regular vehicles. A primered gray cutlass with no hubcaps has more to do with hip hop culture than a donk.

Oh Gosh, Sorry...I absolutely did not mean to offend! I thought my little emoticon would show I was being sarcastic, meaning I know very, very little about the Hip Hop culture.

Of course, if you asked me what Hip Hop artists drive, I would say Cadillac Escalades, and would probably offend someone...that is just the way of internet communication, I suppose.

Here is the Urban dictionary definitions, guaranteed to make someone angry :

1-a very round, attractive ghetto syle booty
derivation: shortened form or badonkadonk

2- Any POS late 80's or early 90's American heap (preferably an Impala) that has large enough wheels installed until it resembles (and rides and handles like) a Conestoga wagon. This is done so it sits up high enough so as to be at the same eye level as the Playas with real juice ridin in their Escalades. Adding in a bad candy paint job and Wal-Mart sub box completes the transformation.
With no money left over for necessary suspension and brake upgrades, the lifespan is limited to a few drug runs or the first Police chase, whichever occurs first.

That has got to be the dumbest shyt i've seen on this site Its no wonder why there are some many stereotypes out there. Everyones creativity & taste are different, cars just happen to fall into this category also. So who would be so surprised to find out that the 71 442 is owed by a white guy! Styles of cars are used by every race & religion. Not to get off track but i was looking in the newspaper today and saw a carshow this weekend in Az so i said i have something to do until i read it was a GAY CLUB carshow I don't have anything against them but not my cup of T, will i talk about them NO- I just won't go!
