You are correct. I had not reinstalled it at the time the photos were taken.

ILT makes a reprouction of the brass right angled male spade terminal.

yes...my mistake the spade on mine is connected to the wiring on the car and the spade terminal connects to sender in between the two nuts

here is the one off my 69 HO. Also had some red paint on the temp sender, and also the metal valve cover pipe...this car has been apart since 1976, so these are original to the car...

was just thinking about this, i wonder if the original ones installed at the factory were not plated cadium and were bare metal? if so then it would make sense that they were painted black to keep them from weathering/rusting. it does not make sense that olds would take the extra time to paint these if they were already plated to protect them from weathering/rusting. all the nos ones i have seen are all cadium plated?

...I dont think any of the 6462137 senders were plated with cad. Mine is original to the car and it has traces of black, and others I have seen including on here that are in nice condition are also black, I dont know if they recieved a coat of paint like you mention thats possible, other senders with different part number seem to have a plating

heres some NOS for a full size Pontiac they are 60 lbs and i sold them all a few years ago...they where all dated 66...so id assume they where assy line correct...

Ive had and sold a bunch and they have been plated gold and black..all the old used ones i have had the black had worn off, but you can find remnants of the black...most of the NOS later dated ones Ive had are gold..im sure its a plant and supplier thing on the colors

the black isnt smooth either its a light krinkle coat..you can feel the ruffness...its shows but its light..

My (May of 1971) 442 has the original sender and it is painted Black as well. For $400 I may pull it off and sell it! Just kidding.
