looks correct to me, looks like its been painted though, but that shouldn't matter unless you are looking for NOS. They make repos, unfortunately they don't look exact but they are a lot lot cheaper

They seem to be different parts because they are for different engines
370801 is the new number for the 68-70 but i can't see anything in the book that the ebay part is correct for anything after 1967

I see the price is over 200 bucks...a few people obviously want it bad, I myself wouldnt pay that much because the numbers are different...but that doesn't mean it won't work

There seems to be two units of these NOS styles that get sold out there (same appearance for both..like the one linked to). One difference b/n the two part #'s may be one is for 0-80 psi and the other is for 0-60 psi.

for $410 I wouldn't buy it even if it was the exact part number - they come up for sale occasionally much cheaper than that.

The 70 sender was painted black. I'm not sure about other years.

So on a 1970 442 it should be painted black not just the yellow zinc plating?

neither of mine looked like they were painted black, looked like a dirty cadmium plating - Ill have to check again.

The 70 W-30 I just sold had the sender painted black. When I posted pictures of the engine,Brian Trick I think commented about the sender being the correct black. Maybe Brian will see this and comment.

I'll "second" the black finish on the '70 units. Who knows, however, if ALL the '70 cars had this finish on the sender or not? Maybe Olds transitioned to unpainted units at some point in '70...'71?? Maybe it was the AC/Delco division that made the decision since they apparently manufactured this part.

I'd prefer black as it would be easier to spray them black than to re-plate them

One is a November 69 build the other is an April 70 build. I'll try to check.

That's good to know, is it flat, semi, or gloss?

Do you guys use teflon tape on the threads of the sending unit or no. Something about grounding.

I didn't use the tape, I think it says in the engine assembly manual not to but not sure if it was a grounding issue, but that sounds correct.

My original assembly line issued 80# P/N 6462137 oil pressure sending unit for rally pac gauges.

Keep in mind that although correct in function, a factory service replacement part will have a different julian date code stamped into the body of the sending unit. Stamped day of the year "XXX" and last digit of the year "X".

Thanks for the pics. I pulled mine last night and painted it semi gloss today. It's a newer one but at least it's the right color now.

Looked at the vintage road test videos on youtb of the 68 hust olds and 71 442 30 . The 71 sending unit is hard to see but it looks like it has platting. The 68 hust sending unit is easily visible. Looks like it too has platting. – Lots of good info in videos -

Here's some photos of a couple that I took some time back. I've since sold one to an active member in this thread. I still have the black one, but it's not for sale.

Good topic here. It depends on when the car was built as not all 1970 units were painted black. My December 69 built w31 has a cad plated unit and my April built W31 has a black unit. Both have the same part number, but the dates are different. Again, both units are original to there respected cars. So, when did the change take place; I'm not sure. Was it because the car was built during the strike? Not sure.
