1969 350 number six head question/advice

two questions.
1. would anyone know what size of intake/exhaust valves come stock in these heads
2 what would you recommend as far as size makes a good compliment to edelbrock performer rpm hydraulic cam rpm range 1500-6500 .496 intake exhaust .520 with a duration at .006(290intake 300exhaust) and .0.50(224intake 234exhaust)degrees of course.

iam going to rebuild the heads anyways want to get it right. thanks much ahead of time

ps its a sunday driver/toy and i want it to move when i put my foot in it.

Here's the link to the Wiki site which discusses heads:

http://www.oldsmobilewiki.com/index....ust_Port_Sizes

Your car should have #5 heads on it now, you can have the valve seats cut out and install the 2.00 intake valves. Doing some port work would also help your engine breath better. If you have time use the search option to find other threads on port work. John

All 1970 350s use the #6 head, 2bbl, 4bbl, or W-31, they all use it. The 2bbl and the 4bbl use exactly the same head. Same valves, springs, etc. Only the W-31 got the big valves and springs. Rotator style spring retainers were used on the intake and exhaust springs.
Also, I merged your other, identical question into this thread. Not sure what else you want to hear. The #6 head was used on all 350 motors during the 1970 model year. W-31s got the larger valves, but the casting is the same. Good choice for a 350 buildup, but not original on a 1969 model year engine.

Joe, thanks thanks for posting this link.

I noticed in the small block head ID chart it says #5 heads not to use with replacement flat top pistons.
I was wondering why? hope i didn't read that foot note wrong.

Good catch - I hadn't noticed that before. I'm confused by the footnote since obviously the #5 heads were used with flattop pistons in the 68-69 W-31 cars. One thing to keep in mind is that even the Wiki data originally came from the FAQ that originally came from excerpts from posts on the old Chubecto mail list server. These particular tables were originally generated by Chris Witt, probably in the early 1990s. Someone on ROP might want to ask him about it.

I'd say the flat tops need the "eyebrows" cut in them for the valves.
