If the claim is that the parts were bolted in place and removed recently that is a 100 percent complete lie. I paused the video at 1:16 and the fuel line is in the air with the filter housing attached and it even looks like the filter element is there. Someone removed that carb prior to the rust, the line would bend or there would be shiny spots on some of it. No way that was done recently.

There were no top end parts bolted on that engine. If he said they were sitting loosely in the engine compartment I would be more inclined to believe the story. Which makes no sense as to storing them outside when they were clearly removed years ago.

This brings Susan Smith flashbacks.

After reviewing the video twice and freezing the motor pic, I now have questions! It was not taken over the weekend and the firewall did not have fresh removed paint exposed? The cylinders were rusty and the top of the engine was rusty? MMMmmm! I certainly hope this is on the up and up! I think the motor had been missing for some time and he just suddenly opened the hood for the first time in MONTHS and realized everything was gone. All the W30 parts were missing the Aluminum intake, carb dist,F heads and the red fenderwells. I wonder if the ram air breather was on there? I hope the culprits are caught one way or the other.

I think the parts were probably stolen but its far from a sob story that the magazine makes it out to be.
If the stuff was in in useable shape they would have been taken better care of, the car looks to be a pile of junk really just waiting for a re-body job and then documented into a 40 year barn find 6 page story and then off to Barrett Jackson for stupid money.
This is what news media has turned into.

Step 1 : Buy ratty cancerous stripped W-30 shell for $2500 cuz it'll be worth $250K+ when I'm done restoring it (I know cuz I saw it on the TV).
Step 2 : Allow shell to 'ripen' for a few years outside
Step 3 : Realize that I don't have materials, money, time, skill, facility, etc... to achieve goal.
Step 4 : 'Discover' 'missing' parts
Step 5 : Claim $10K+ in losses
Step 6 : PROFIT !
Step 7 : (Optional) Consider using claim $ to restore sofa in barn instead....

Just my .02.....

The A/C box ? Wiper motor ? Niether are anything special. All that and did'nt take the hood ? Even broke thats worth an easy 500 bucks.

Hell I'de pay $1001.00 for a 1970 W-30 intake, carb wheel wells, air cleaner and heads.

I wonder what the previous owner would have to say about the car ?

No doubt that the thief is one of Jay's "buddies". So by leaving the hood with the car the theft wasn't discovered for quite a while.

uhm technically his story is that he just DISCOVERED the parts missing. Not that they were just stolen. It must have taken quite a bit of time to thieve that much stuff. Right there in the yard. Some *****.

DennisG, nice breast there!
