Electronic distributor for 55 rocket 88

I have a 1955 rocket 88 with the original engine. A 324? I'm looking to get rid of the points and put in an electronic distributor. All I've been able to locate is a conversion kit for my current unit. Not a new distributor. Is my engine compatible with a new unit? Thanks!

I don't think you will find a new unit for your car. I have a Pertronix in my 54 with the Pertronix coil and it works great.

Pertronix is a easy good way to go but unless you are clueless about point maintenance and can't set up a set of points there is little or no advantage going to a pointless system. The only Pretronix system I have used (small block Chevy) the modem crapped out and left me stranded in the sticks.I know this doesn't happen often but something to keep in mind. Also keep your old set of points in the glove box so you can use them if this does happen..... Just my experience... Tedd

PS . And yes you have a 324 in your 55.

There are about a dozen threads on here debating this subject. I hope this does not turn into another. I could not be happier or more satisfied with a product.
