Was a power antennae an option on a 66 Cutlass convertible? If so how easy is it to get one or does anyone out there make a decent one? I've seen some garbage out there that just doesn't impress me. Looking for opinions and any help.

Yes, but there was only a single power antenna.

It mounted in the right rear quarter. You need to weld up the hole in the front fender to install one. Correct ones cost a fortune.

 

I remember seeing these now. Thanks Joe. I did see one on Ebay for $375, ouch. I might have to go aftermarket although I'm not a fan of them.

 

When I did the Vintage Air conversion on my 67, once the original evaporator was out, there was plenty of roof for a power antenna in the front antenna location. I doubt you want to do that just to add an antenna. I have tried a couple of brands over the years and have settled on Hirschman. The rest failed so quickly they never made it out of warranty.

I was in the same position as you with getting a not so good one off of eBay. It was almost impossible to find a complete power antenna. Instead of trying to get a complete power antenna I started too piecemeal it. I spent many hours researching the part numbers for each component. I found the following parts
66/67 Power antenna switch with plate used $30.00
66/67 Power antenna mounting bracket used $30.00
65-69 Power antenna nut new Fusick $25.00
66/67 Power antenna chrome spacer couldn’t’ find
Power antenna wiring new Fusick $60.00
65 Power antenna assy new NOS $425.00 with coaxial wiring
During the search for the final part (chrome spacer) I saw a Craigslist listing that had the completed Power Antenna with every single part for $475.00 plus shipping.
