Antennae lead repair? Can it be done?

I was at the junk yard this last weekend and there is a passenger side 69 Cutlass fender that still has its original antennae bolted to it. You know the one that bolts to the bracket on the underside? The top of the fender "cone" and mast are missing. So the yahoo that removed it just clipped the antennae lead about a foot from the mast. Can the lead be spliced or replaced right up to the mast?
Sure would like an original type antennae instead of the POS Chinesium one that came on it.
Thanks in advance for any input.

Tom

Someone who is good with electronics and soldering can do a safisfactory repair on it. I have done them myself.

They don't even have to be good at electonics, just soldering. You can also splice a new wire on the remaining lead.

Find a CB shop (usually at a truck stop) and get the guy to install new cable in the length you need. should not cost you much and he should be able to do a better job than you.
