67 turn signal switch tilt column issue

I purchased a turn signal switch for my 67 442 from Fusick for a 67 tilt column. Went through all the pain of fishing the new harness through the column only to discover the switch does not fit. It's close but not close enough. I expect the tilt column came from some other vehicle with a different part number for the switch. I ordered another switch but won't get it till later today, and I expect it may be the same as what I already have. Does anyone have any idea what this tilt column may have come out of so I can get the right switch? Could not find a part/serial number on the column on what is visible while installed. Would prefer to NOT have to remove the entire column to find identifying numbers if I don't have to. Not even sure where they would be.
The old "black" switch has a flat side on the hazard side whereas the new "white" one is tapered. Any help would be appreciated.
