Hi all,
can anyone tell me the proper sequence of the horn button on the steering wheel. Mine was Mickey moused and not working and all apart when I got it. I think I have all the parts but can’t seem to get the sequence correct. Or where can I find a diagram? All my manuals are ordered but won’t be in until the end of the week and I need to get my state inspection by Friday and the horn is the only issue

Which steering wheel do you have? Is it the 4 spoke sport wheel or the two bar plastic wheel color coded to your interior?

 

The black wire at the horn relay should show a ground when you press the horn button. The green wire st the horn relay is power to the horns when the horn button is pressed. If the black wire shows continuity to ground while pressing the button, jumper power to the green wire. If the horns sound, replace the relay. If they don’t sound with power on the green wire, the horns are bad. Try tapping them a couple times with a hammer while power is applied, that might get them going.

 

So the horn relay and horn work and all the way up to the column has power my problem is underneath the horn cap the original he did the cat nap didn’t you was broken so somebody screwed it together to hold it into place hate to the steering wheel and removed all the contact points,spring. Pin etc
I have the Four spoke rally wheel and cap But essentially nothing in between the two

I bought a new horn mountt with the three screw holes and a new ,pin spring ians plastic it’s escutcheon
But cannot seem to make it work properly

 

OK, I'm not sure it will work since I'm not using photobucket anymore. But here's a series of photos showing the assembly of the sport wheel. I took these as I dismantled a car. The one warning, I've been told I have the tiny spring/plunger in the wrong order in these photos. Let us know if this resolves your problem or not.

Thx, the pics worked but didn’t show what I needed but my manuals showed up early so I was able to get the horn working. Thx for the input.
just need a washer fluid reservoir to get it inspected, they wouldn’t do it without one and mine literally crumbled.

The spring goes in first, then the pin, with the black locking cap to hold it in place. I have made that mistake before.

 

Thanks Matt! I thought about deleting that photo and posting the correct one, but when photobucket first raised their rates to a crazy price I stopped using them. I should see if I've got the old photos somewhere and create a sticky with this information, since adding a sport wheel is a common project.
