Red face fuel tank sending unit

Hi I'm having an issue with my fuel gauge on my 1970 olds cutlass that I'm currently restoring. It was working fine after I installed the new tank and sending unit, now it nose dives to E with the key on. Not sure how the older systems work, i know the tan wire goes to the float, but i have no voltage coming from at all. I could sure use some help....

The float is the ground side of the meter circuit. The reason its going to E is you have a short to ground in the tan sender wire. If you remove the wire from the sender it should go past F with the key on.
