1967 Windshield Wiper Wiring

I snapped some pictures of the wiper motor and wiring on my 4 door Cutlass. It's a low mile 1967 that I believe is pretty much original. The wipers do have two speeds, slow and fast. Check out the photos and let me know if there's a different view you'd like to see.

The wiper motor is above the brake booster

As viewed through the hood springs

Viewed from the passenger side, the wiring all goes in from this side

The wiring harness from the wiper motor goes down toward the back of the fuse block. But then it goes into a wrap of wires that head toward this relay on the inner fenderwell. I can see a yellow wire exposed, but I don't know where the rest of the wires run at this point.

If you plan to work on your car I strongly encourage you to invest in a Chassis Service Manual. They're on ebay all the time and one was printed for each year. They have all the Oldsmobile models of that year and lots of great pictures, drawings and details about our cars. They also have a nice wiring schematic! John

Thanks. I love pictures. i'm out of town this moment, but I'll check what I've got tonight.

do you have any idea on the difference in 2, 3, and 4 wire motors?

thanks again on the picture. I have the manuals so I'll try to see if I can follow colors off of that as well. thanks

Does yours have a washer built into it? I am not too knowledgable in the 60s cars. A washer would add another 1 or 2 wires I suppose...

In the 4th photo out of 5, note that the wiper leads go into the base plate area at the left, and the washer leads go into the plastic box area. In the first photo you can see the plastic box or cover for the washer is to the left of the wiper motor. This is the "rectangular" motor used in low line cars, including the 3807 Sports Coupe which is technically an upper line Cutlass but with some of its trim level being lower than the hardtop Holiday Coupe. The wiring for the two motors was different in 66, both under the dash, at the switch, and at the wiper/washer assembly. Two different wiper switches were used in 66, but only one switch in 67. I assume the wiring differences were common to 66 and 67 but haven't checked.

It would be easier to help you if you gave photos and told us exactly where the "molestations" occurred to the wiring on your car.

Update:

I found original wires and spliced in as per above pics.

I get nothing on the wipers.

I appear to be getting on/off appropriately off of the switch to the wiring, but the only thing I get at all off of the motor is a 'click' when I do the washer off of the switch.

Is there as way to hot wire to the motor to see if it works. If I put + to the yellow post/terminal, and put a ground to the other terminal, should the motor run?

I'd like to bench test the motor somehow or another before I go lay out money for a new or used wiper motor.

Thanks!
