Wiper Motor Wiring
Wiper Motor Wiring
Hey guys, I'm in kind of a jam. My wiper motor and pump crapped out on me and I replaced them with aftermarket ones. The wiper motor is a Cardone replacement and the pump is a delco replacement. The problem is I can't get it to work. First the plug that goes to the motor doesn't span across the terminals properly to plug in and the pump says to hook up the pink and white wire to it's terminals.
I don't have any pink or white wiring coming from my factory harness to the pump and which wires go to which terminal on the wiper motor? OH! and there is a green and a yellow wire also coming out of the motor with female spade terminals attached to them. Where do these hook up to? Totally frustrated now!
Sorry guys, forgot to mention it's a 1971 Olds Cutlasss Supreme.

First the disclaimer, I know nothing of 71 Cutlasses but your extra wires are probably there to allow the wipers to return to the rest position when you turn them off. I think there are three wires from the switch to the motor and a hot lead to the power source, may also be a extra ground lead that is attached to the motor and will need to be grounded to the body somewhere. As far as the pump goes have you checked with a multi meter to find out what terminal is hot and which one is the ground? this could be just a mater of elimination if the wire colors don't match... Just a thought....Tedd
Hey thanks a lot frankr442!!!! You were right, they gave me the wrong part. The part they gave me was a Cardone prt#40-156 no pump with it. The right part was a Cardone 40-142 with pump attached. Definitely the right terminals, now were ready to roll!!!!!! Appreciate all the help.
