67 cutlass front turn signal sockets
67 cutlass front turn signal sockets
these don't seem to be removable...is that true? not sure if they are supposed to, but the pins in the bottom do not move, i.e., they don't seem to have a spring behind them to crush down" when the bulb is inserted, of they do, mine are all the way down which results in the bulb not making solid contact. I was replacing all the bulbs in the car as we put it back together and the old ones were almost "welded" in the sockets. destroyed one of the bulbs getting it out. any tips would be appreciated as now, at least one of them (haven't tried the other one yet) with the new bulb...nothing happening. thanx.
what I thought. Thanx.
might be time to restore the lamps or buy others.
The wires need to be free to slide thru the insulating passage.
spring might be shot.
New inserts with wires, spring, and holder disk are available.
Complete dismantling, cleaning with evaporust and / or hot viegar & salt might be in order. Wire brush as needed. Silicone lube upon reassembly.

Can anyone tell me how to get them apart without ruining them? They are strongly crimped together.

who sells the kit? I looked at OPGI and found nothing for the parking lamps except the lens and gasket. thanks for the info!!!
Had a similar problem with one lower taillight on my 67. I used a dremel and ground the securing bead off the socket to remove and got a generic push in new socket and adapted the plug off the old socket to the new one. Not hard to do and works fine.

Here are the pigtails. I have not used them in your app. but worked in others.
Remove old, clean socket, install, solder and shrink wrap connection. Just keep wiring orientated with proper connection, or before soldering test and make sure turn signal is brighter then parking light.
