Question No gauge or interior lights

Working on my 86 olds cutlass I checked the fuse and pulled the gauge cluster out and checked my bulbs and connections my warning lights work and all my gauges are working now. But my gauge or interior lights don't , could it be my dimmer switch

If the question is about the car in your signature, there are a couple extra questions that need answering as well. Has the factory radio/stereo been replaced? If it has, you need to make sure the grey wire was not used for, or connected to, a ground source. The grey wire is the dimmer lead for the factory radio and if it is grounded it will pop the dimmer fuse. Also check the cig lighter to make sure it is not loosening up. The **** and heating element screw together and if they loosen up the metal heating element will short out the socket and pop the lighter fuse which powers the parking light circuit if I remember correctly. That one is a little foggy now days. Another thing to check is the smoothness of the dimmer rheostat in the switch. It is a metal spring inside the switch and if it has rusted it can cause the dash lights to not work.

The '80s stereo craze was brutal on cars of that era. I know, I was a stereo installer for 15 years starting in '80 and finished up about 95 or so. It was fun, but the stereo fad phased out and I had to get a real career.
