Trying to figure what this relay is

 

Looks like a fire hazard added by some one..

 

Honestly, what's the chance you might provide a little more information. Is it an Oldsmobile vehicle? Happen to know the year of the vehicle? Maybe the possibility you might know the model?

 

1971 Olds Cutlass Supreme Convertible. It is right above the bulk head go thru the firewall orange wire with black stripe

 

It’s not the horn relay on the fender. It bolts up to the two screws above the blue tape which is the bulk head. Painting my fire wall and I have a new under hood harness and don’t know what this is

 

It's a circuit breaker....I'll post an image in a minute.

 

Might be a circuit breaker for the convertible top.

 

FYI, a relay needs at least three wires to operate. This is a circuit breaker, used on high-current accessories like power windows or power seats.

 

Yours is rather mangled. You can purchase replacements if needed.

 

It's rated at 40 AMP

Thanks for the pic. Total explained what I was looking at. In the process of taking everything off my fire wall and painting. I'm replacing the under hood harness and wanted a clear mind of what everything is. Once again thank you
