Tips on '51 dash removal?
Dash removal sounds like a bit of overkill for the problems. The indicator light may just need a lamp replacement. The speedometer problem likely needs more investigation to determine the nature of the problem. It might just need a cable replacement.
Hello again, all.
A new cable made no difference - still lots of grinding noise and the dial showing about 4x my actual speed. My mechanic Michael removed the instrument cluster without much trouble, and plugged the oil pressure pipe. I am looking for recommendations on speedometer rebuilders, especially on something of similar vintage to my 1951 model.
Thanks!
Andrew

Update
The instrument cluster unscrews from behind/below the dash (but it seems only I didn't know that) with two knurled nuts and two more nuts holding brackets in place.
BOBSSPEEDOMETER.COM rebuilt the speedometer and it now works almost totally silently. They were courteous and quick.
