Stereo issues....
I would like to replace the Speakers in my 84 'Toro, someone here said that I need to go from underneath in trunk. The OE ones are tattered....
Is there an easier way or am I just not seeing how to get them out.....
The front speakers I had out last week, they are shot.....(these are easy to replace)
I am going to keep the OE head unit (for now) as it works fine, and is kind of rare seeing that it has the built CB radio....
I have adapters for MP3 players so I can listen it over the OE system, so I am in no rush to replace the head unit...

Usually the rear speakers are easier to get out than the front ones. You have to remove them through the trunk. Remove the spare tire and you should see the bottom of the speakers below the package tray.
It looks like they come out from the top.
There isn't a way to access them from the trunk. No clips, screws, nuts, nothing.......
Now, how do I get the back seat (since it hinders access to the shelf) and the rear interior quarter panels out?
One single screw in the center of the shelf holds the the thing down, but now the edges wont move until I get the quarters out too.....

From the little bit I remember about cars of that era, I would think that IS the best way to get at the speakers. Otherwise you will have to pull interior panels around the side glass, and possibly the trim over the doors to get the deck/ package shelf out. Being mid eighties that should all be clipped into place, But I have never had a toro apart, so would not be able to tell you exactly how it all goes together. The best I could offer is get some trim pulling tools, and GENTLY pry up on the trim. It should all be plastic so will give. peek around and go slowly. Pry at point of resistance and clips should come free. Plastic gets brittle as it ages so GO SLOW. Interior parts are generally self explanitory, one piece fits over the other. I had a series of late 70's g and a body cars, and are similar in construction, nothing was terrably dificult to get out , but some clips were "sticky" so again go slow. I still have a hard time believing the speakers can't be accessed through the trunk, unless the fasteners are driven through from the top.
Thank you for all the help!
I got a quick look today....(lifted up the shelf liner a touch)
They are secured from the top of the package shelf.......
Oh well, I need to re-cover the side panels and headliner anyway, so they would have to come out sooner or later.....
Now, how the heck does the back seat come out. It should be lift and pull for the bottom, but I can't seen to get it to release....
