Rally Pak Issues

Installed a rebuilt Rally Pak setup in my 70 442. I followed, At least I thought I did, The great directions from GAOldsman but still wound up with some issues
  1. Tach works but clock doesn't
  2. None of the gauges work correctly
  3. All lights work.
  4. When I pulled the gauge cluster back out of the dash it seemed really hot. At least hotter than I would have expected it to be.
We were blowing fuses but seem to have that sorted out. I have some old (non restored) gauges and a tach that we were going to install to see if they would work. I believe I may have both a faulty clock an gauges but want to try and isolate it first before I have them redone again.

Any guidance on where I should start looking would be appreciated.

Thanks

You may be missing power to the clock and the gauges. You can confirm this with a test light.

I have restored many sets of rally packs for customers. It is very common for the clock not to work. GM really did not mean for this stuff to last 45 years. A quartz kit replacement for the clock would most likely fix that issue.
I don't know what all you have done so this question may sound dumb. Do you have the correct sending units for the rally pack installed on your engine? I'm not sure about the getting hot issue? Sounds like a good idea to install the other rally pack and see what happens.
