No instrument lights? cutlass 1968

No instrument lights? cutlass 1968

Hi!

My instument light does not work on my gauges. But when I open the door does the map light work. Anyone that can help me?

The insument lamps are powered from the tailights, no taillights, no instrument lamps. Make sure the tailight fuse is good, make sure the tailights work. The instrument lamp feed from the headlight switch is green, it comes out the other side of the intrument lamp fuse as gray.

Just to clarify, the instrument lamps actually are powered through two fuses in parallel. The tail light fuse provides power to the headlight switch. This is split off in the switch to the rheostat that controls brightness of the panel lamps (as noted, be sure the **** is turned CCW for brightest lights). It then comes out of the headlight switch and back to the fuse panel where it passes through the 4 amp fuse for the panel lamps.
