Night Watch
My 70 442 has the factory night watch option. Can it be used with the ralley dash???I`ve read the forum that says it can and can`t be used with the ralley dash.??The service manual shows a picture of a wire tied into the oil pressure switch. What is correct??Thanks.
Rallye Pac sender is different. You'd have to put in a tee and have both gage and idiot light senders plumbed into it. Clumsy looking.
Boils down to would you rather have the Rallye Pac or Night Watch.

NightWatch is tied into the oil pressure circuit to ensure the automatic headlight control doesn't turn off the lights driving down the road. An idiot light oil pressure sender is a "make or break" type switch. As long as engine is running and oil pressure is proven, NW keeps the lights on. With engine shut off and no oil pressure, NW senses the car is off and allows the lights to turn off after its specified time delay.
Rallye Pac oil pressure gage sender works differently. It is more a variable resistance type switch that allows the gage to register differences in pressure.
A gage sender connected to a warning light will cause the light to brighten and dim as the sender registers different pressure. Likewise a warning light sender driving a gage will cause the gage to read either "0" or full pressure.
Why no NightWatch with Rallye Pac? The technology was simply not there in 1970 to have both options together. Cars now could have an electronic module that would allow having both options. You look over order sheets from those years and you will often see certain options were not available in combination with other options.

Yes,I`ve talked to the original owner of the car.The car has alot of options.pw,pdrlocks, pwtrunk, hood lock, speed minder, his and hers, night watch.........I guess i`ll have to put a tee in.Which i take i`ll have to jump a wire from the harness to the idiot light sensor.
More likely is that the Night Watch was factory installed and someone added the Rally Pac after the fact, which disabled the Night Watch. You'd have to inspect the dash harness in detail to look for signs of modification.
The ralley pack wires look to be all original.Long story short.Maaco in california had this car and cut alot of wires. In stead of unplugging the proper way.The car has cruise, and half the harness was cut out..Wish i had the build sheet.
