Which flasher, directional or hazard lights? The flasher unit located near the steering column is for the direction.al, the mounted on the fuse block is the hazards. Have you changed the one that corresponds to your issue? They can be swapped for troubleshooting

Sometimes the flasher itself needs replacing. Do they just stay on or nothing at all?

Disconnect the battery and gently pry under it with a small screw driver.

The flasher can also be removed by gently rocking the unit side to side while pulling straight out.

Try grabbing it & wiggling it out w/ a pair of channel lock pliers.

Without a picture, it's difficult to know the condition of your fuse box. I've seen some where I've questioned how anything at all is working.

At any rate, if you're going to these lengths to remove the flasher ensure you disconnect the battery as (the other) Eric has already mentioned.

Not so bad. A little worse than mine - several fuse holders are showing rust/pitting, but I've seen seriously worse cases. The flasher most likely hasn't been changed in several decades - it's going to take some effort - probably has corrosion/oxidation in the socket and on the flasher socket contacts - be persuasive.

And, please BTW, don't spray contact cleaner on the flasher once you get it removed - buy a brand new flasher (and, apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the contacts).
