Electrical issue need help

I have a 64 98 that was starting/running just fine. My battery died on me(I must of left something on over night. When me and a buddy where jump starting it turned on. My buddy was removing the jumpers and one of the terminals came off with it. Car turned off and haven't been able to start it again! Car just cranks over but it's not firing up

I am assuming that the battery terminal -/+ came off the battery?

I would start with the basics.

Does it have spark? pull a plug out and ground it, unless you have a tester
Is it getting fuel? pull air cleaner, look down the carb. and stoke the throttle lever.

Original points, or have you converted it to an electronic ignition?

It looks I have no spark, so I tried a different coil but I still have nothing!

Yes I converted it to electronic ignition a few months back?

Perhaps a transient voltage spike while jump-starting, or when the cable came off the battery while the engine was running, damaged the electronic module.

How would I diagnose that issue?

Well, what kind of electronic ignition do you have?

Have you checked for the correct voltage into the distributor?

Have you checked the condition of the cap and rotor?

If the alternator is working, removing the battery cable when running will cause a voltage surge (spike). The high voltage can damage electronic components and modules. I suspect the ign module is now done. It is a good idea to have the blower motor on high whenever jumping to help absorb any surge or transient spikes.

I can't recall what kind I bought but the cap and rotor, spark plugs/wires are all pretty much new. Everything was in working order when I got the car, just wanted to fresh it up a lil
I believe my alternater is still working!

I would make sure I have power on the coil+ post with the key in the start and run positions. If you have power there its probably the electronic ignition that failed inside the distributor.

If only there were a mechanical means of triggering the coil, that does not rely on electronics!

Indeed. One that was immune to power surges and random failures.

Ah, well... Dreams...

Now that I have time, I agree with the others, module! What do you have Pertronix or HEI delco distributor?

I'm not sure I just have the original distributor and did the electronic conversion to it.

Amazing concept Eric. A ignition system one can visually see working or not!
