Broken pins on back of gauge/speed cluster

Like the title says, when I disconnected the harness from the gage cluster a few of the pins stayed in the connector. I had a moment of McGyverism, I went to a GOOD hardware store (not Lowe's or Menard's!) and found that 2.5mmX12mm screws are a perfect fit in the holes in the circuit board. I removed all the loose pins, installed screws and nuts, added a small dab of solder, and reassembled. Better than stock!

One of the guys on 73-77olds.com had a neat writeup with pics of doing exactly that. Nothing like a little ingenuity to keep your stuff functioning!

nice matt those pins arent on there too good at all. when I got my car some guage lights never worked even after replacing bulbs, when I replaced the dash I found loose pins and one pin was miscrimped on the board, I had a spare column shift speedo and the board from that is the same as the floor shift speedo board so I just swapped them...nice to know a solid fix thanks for posting

put some silicone grease on the pins to avert corrosion and stickage in the future.
