82 cutlass supreme no start & hard brake
Car wont start anymore so I had the battery jumped and it started and sounded beautiful. I mistakenly turned the car off immediately and now it wont start. The brake pedal is very hard and sounds like you’re squeezing a tiny amount of air. I checked under the hood and the fans aren’t moving anymore. When I had someone press the brake while i check under the hood there is something that ticks when its pressed but again, it doesn’t respond.
I’ve tried doing the slight push constantly but it isn’t doing anything. I currently can’t afford to fix this issue, but in the mean time it would be great if someone could explain what could possibly be the issue? Need pictures of something? Just ask and I’ll update post. Thanks!
ps... i bought this not too long ago and the owner did say it should need a new battery, but it ran so I wasn’t concerned at that moment. I hope this is only a battery problem.

1982 should be a power brake car. If engine isn't running you will not have any power assist, which gives hard pedal and hiss you're experiencing.
Either fully charge the battery or replace it if it won't take a charge. Get the engine running and then check the alternator to make sure it's charging. If not charging (minimum 14 volts at both alternator output post and positive battery terminal with engine running) find out why and repair it.
You mentioned fans. Does the car have electric radiator fans? These cars came with belt-driven fans.
Which leads to the next question- has this car had ANY non-factory modifications done?
I'll be honest. I don't trust any electrical modifications I didn't do myself.

Glad it's running. Just make sure alternator is still charging it. Get a cheap multimeter and check voltage at the (+) battery terminal with engine running. Needs to be 14 to 14.5 volts if charging system is working.
