....does anybody have a PDF of the 72 Cutlass service manual or a high resolution of the wiring diagram? A diagram/ labeling of the dash harness would be ideal but a full car diagram will work. I know there was a picture posted above but it is hard to read some of the labeling. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
You need to purchase (today) a 1972 original OEM paperback Oldsmobile Chassis Service Manual (CSM). I'm surprised you don't already own this publication. The CSM contains the original color wiring diagram.
The next book you need to have in your library is the 1972 Oldsmobile Product Information Manual (AKA Factory Assembly Manual [FAM]) which demonstrates how your vehicle was put together at the factory - e.g. sheet metal, engine dress, seats, dash, lighting harnesses, switches, etc.

There are also heater, A/C, rear window wiring diagrams. This is why you should own a copy of the PIM. Not only will it contain excellent diagrams, but since no one knows the accessories on your car, it's tough to fish around for a diagram you may not even need.
Alright guys. We are well under way. Under the hood there is a wire running from the distribution post to the fuse box. Wiring diagram shows a fusible link on this line. Does anybody know what amperage that fuse is supposed to be? I had a 30A in it and it popped.

what is the difference in a fusible link and an inline fuse? If it’s the same amperage it will do the same job, no? Thanks for the response.
Outside of a short to ground, a fusible link will not burn instantaneously, it's more forgiving for overcurrent situations and are used to protect electrical systems. Fuses are meant to protect individual components. It's your car do what you want.
