'68 442 "lazy" fuel gauge?
Ok, tried searching this on here as I figured not a new item...but nothing?
Recently, I've noticed when I start the car and operate it for about 15 minutes the fuel gauge is pegged at FULL. In reality, I know I happen to have a 1/2 tank. Eventually, it "drops" to 1/2 reading. At first I thought this might be the float "sticking" from condensation, etc. but the fact that it is at FULL rather than stuck at 1/2 (as i would assume) makes me wonder?
Other variable is that I recently had to remove speedo to extract broken cable line and wonder if I "disturbed" something on the gauge panel?
Thoughts?
Thanks

i had the same problem with my 78 delta and it turned out to be a bad ground on my fuel tank sending unit. whenever it was raining the fuel gauge would work and then when dry it would cut out and have the same exact symptoms you are describing.
