1986 Olds 98 Reg. No Spark

Good day everyone I have a 86 Olds 98 with no spark. It had spark before the timing chain was changed...I assume. After no spark. My mechanic said the chain was lined up properly. We changed the Ignition Module, the Crank and the cam sensor and still no spark. Its been hesitating for a while then one day it just stopped running. So the Mechanic said it was the timing chain. The chain gear was ran down. There was a lil clip he was describing that was looked beat up im not sure what it was. Is there anything esle required when changing the chain besides the timing chain gear set?

is there 12 volts at the fat pink/red wire(B+) going to the distributor cap(referenced to the engine block ground)? is the engine ground cable connection clean and tight?

Bill,

Better check your CSM. The 1986 98 is the FWD version. The only available engine was the 3.8 liter V6 with sequential fuel injection and a distributorless ignition system. No cap, no fat pink/red wire.

noted. i didn't read the post when i was awake-my bad.
i'm sure the op found your response very helpful.

so, to get this thread back on the right track, is there power to the ignition module under the coil pack? did a wire in the vicinity possibly get damaged during the process?
iirc, there is a ground wire or 2 that connects to one of the module/coil pack bracket mounting bolts.
there were issues with the coil packs, and to a lesser extent, the ignition modules.
