1969 Tic Tok Tach help

I’ve got a 1969 442 with the TTT I’m in the middle of installing.

I’ve got a constant hot wire going to the batt hook up on the back.

I’ve got the lighting hook up on and working.

I’ve got the tach wire hooked up and it’s ran out to under the hood.

I haven’t hooked a ground wire to the ground terminal yet.

here are my questions

1: the clock isn’t ticking, is this because I haven’t ran the ground wire yet? I’ve verified I’ve got power to the batt post when the car is off.

2: I’m running a Mallory unilite dist as a stand alone unit with a coil and a ballast resistor. That distributor doesn’t have a place for the tac. So where do I hook the wire from the tac? The negative side of the coil?

The clock won't work until you supply a ground - which would be achieved when you mount the TTT to the dash panel grounding strap. You "could" run a simple wire from a ground point anywhere on the dash panel (anywhere honestly) to the TTT casing to validate operation prior to "mounting" into the dash panel.

Any chance you happen to have the 1969 CSM. There is a section for installation of the TTT in the back section under Accessories.

Yes, you need a ground. It's the same as if you connect only the positive cable to the battery.

Yes, connect the tach wire to the negative side of the coil. The Unilite is just an electronic on/off switch, with exactly the same function as the points.
